2026 Student Silent Film Contest
Friends of Music Hall invites students in grades 7–12 to step into the golden age of cinema with its inaugural Youth Silent Film Contest.
Students are encouraged to submit an original, family-friendly silent short film (five minutes or less). Films must include no recorded dialogue (music is encouraged), and the use of captions or title cards is recommended. Entries may be created by an individual or small group and must be entirely original.
Submissions are due by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026. Finalists will be announced April 3, and the top three films—selected by a panel of local filmmakers and educators—will premiere on the big screen in the Music Hall Ballroom on Friday, April 17, 2026, prior to the screening of The Mark of Zorro, accompanied live by the historic Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. Cash prizes will be awarded.
Bahl & Gaynor is proud to be a Season Sponsor of the Mighty Wurlitzer Concert Series, presented by the Friends of Music Hall.
